New

Two words, SUSHI NEKO! Yummm. It's the newest restaurant that my husband and I have been to. Now, I don't want to hear "Oh, gross, sushi!?" Because until you've tried some real, Japanese, (even cooked if you prefer) sushi rolls then you can't hurl at the thought of eating it. Trust me, just go to Sushi Neko and order the Soy Bean appetizer (the most unexpected, tasty, interesting little appetizer) Miso Salmon, and a California, or Philadelphia roll. Or, if you prefer some raw and some cooked fishes mixed in the same roll order the Baja California roll because it sounded delicious. We didn't get anything raw because I'm pregnant, but cooked crab in a sushi roll is oh.so.tasty! Not only was it a delicious evening out, it was an evening with JUST the husband and myself. If any of you haven't been on a date with JUST the husband then now is the time! Try something NEW together, because you'll totally laugh and feel ridiculous together, and you'll have a new memory that won't include messy diapers or outbursts in public. Don't get me wrong, kids are great. But, marriages are important too. Your relationship one-on-one with your spouse is the eternal relationship that should be nurtured! We've decided that next time we go we are going to pass up the main entree and order a bunch of sushi rolls to share. Honestly, they are melt-in-your-mouth great! If there are any couples out there that want to try this amazing restaurant we'll go with you!

Sushi Neko was the FIRST ever restaurant that I visited in Oklahoma. I grew up on fish, spent half my summers on a fishing boat growing up. I have had every kind of fish and I truly love fish. I am qualified to my opinion when I say Sushi is the grossest version of fish there is. There, an honest, objective, unbiased opinion. Glad you liked it though!! Now, what is the current word on sushi and pregnancy?

Oh my sounds so divine. I love California rolls, they are so yummy. I am not a fan of raw fish but those rolls sound fabulous. We will have to try it sometime, Jon hates anything fishy or Japanese, I will have to pull some strings, because I love it. :) love ya, glad you were able to go out with the hubby sounds so nice.

Sorry, I haven't read/commented in a while. This semester has been pretty crazy, so I haven't been able to keep up with a lot of things. And congrats on the the soon-to-arrive baby (which based on the baby counter thing on your blog is about 179 days away). Was just hanging out with Chris a bit at work and he was filling me in on everything. I'm sure things will work out with dental school. And if not he's doing a good job in school in general, so I'm sure everything will work for the best.

By the way, I love sushi! I haven't had any since Sharon and I got married because she's allergic to fish. :( Oh well...

As noted in the blog, all the sushi was COOKED crab meat. Lacey purposely avoided all the raw stuff. Just thought I'd mention that because for some reason people are concerned about the health of our baby. We know what we're doing.

In the interest of full disclosure, Chris made that last comment while sitting in class. :P That's okay, I'm supposed to be "working" right now. And half of my interweb surfing is done during class lectures, so I guess that makes me an A.D.D. kid too. :)

I'm so glad that you guys got some private time together. Taking little kids with you is work it is not enjoyment. We should enjoy our kids doing fun kids things and at the park, or one on one time before a nap, not on a date. I remember taking Clint with us (no babysitter)out to eat for My bithday at the best steak house ever, The Moon Racker. "Clint won't be a problem, he was always good." They sat us in the Captins Room, which was filled with couples that were dressed to the MAX, and had that look (you know the look) OH My Gosh, they brought their baby, Look!!! It took for ever to get our food so we feed Clint little bites of our appitizers including olives. Well just as they bring us our food, Clint decided he didn't like the appitizers and threw up all over himself the tray and the floor. You can imagine the looks we got! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEBBIE!NEVER AGAIN! at a nice resturant anyway. Kids can throw up at McDonalds no big deal.

You are allowed your opinions. Yeah, I've had pretty much my slew of fish growing up for some time on Long Island, NY and working in Maryland, right by the coast, and you can barely taste the fish in Sushi anyway, that's what makes Sushi Neko SO GREAT! TK, all the cooked fish we had was wonderful! I bet Jon would like the fresh water fish they had there. It's just like the flavor of Utah mountain trout and such. So good! And that IS a biased opinion because I happen to be biased on the topic. And fish are one of the best sources for Omegas and brain/eye development compounds that my husband could explain further (I'm not the chem major). If you prefer popping pre-nates with the omegas go for it. I just like true asian cuisine! Chris, get back to work...and Mom, sorry Clint puked at your birthday dinner. Babies are full of surprises, that's why we left Coleman with Dianne.

Nope we didn't get to go to the Goodman Christmas party darn it. It was the week after we were there. How fun to get to be in Utah for Christmas. Tell everybody hi from us.

oh how i miss sushi. i have told keith he'll have to bring some to me once i deliver kate in the hospital....is it bad to eat if you're nursing? i've only heard to avoid it during pregnancy....i sure hope not or I'll just die.

To be honest, there are such small traces of mercury in raw fish, and it's only found in certain kinds anyway. People are mainly worried about the food born illnesses that come with raw meats. I don't think it will cause some sort of derformation in your child just from breast milk. Breast milk is SO safe. I had tuna sandwiches just about every day when I was pregnant with Coleman because I was addicted, and he turned out just fine (I can hardly eat one now though). My OB knew and wasn't super worried. Just ask your OB though, just to be safe. I know I'm going to be eating me some when my baby is here, breastfeeding or not. It might be something interesting to research...

Hey Lacey-

Love the blog! Sometimes I need a break from the political struggle so I must visit sites like yours that are, to quote someone who didn't really get the meaning of the phrase, "kinder and gentler".

And I'm so honored to have my humble little site linked to your blog under the word "Democracy". That's quite a compliment, and helps make up for the years of work on the site.

My forum has been fairly quiet since the election, but once President Obama is sworn in I'm sure the bitter struggles will begin again. I'd love to hear your take on the issues so please consider "sharing your wisdom" (as we say at ATD) with our little forum community. :-)

Oh... love your blog! So much coo info! :D And guess what? I love sushi, too! Only the vegetarian kind though since I cannot stand the taste or smell of fish....haha.... I know I'm weird. But when I was about 13 I spent an entire day with my family at a local market downtown Milano, Italy...surrounded by FISH and I had to throw up at least 4 times. It stank BAD! And I've been cursed ever since. But Craig loves it. We should really go together sometime! :D
